BioExtracts (Pty) Ltd

BioExtracts is a partnership between Biomox Pharmaceuticals and the University of Pretoria’s Phyto Medicines Division, headed by Prof J N Eloff. BioExtracts specialises in the research and development of herbal extracts and quality control methods in the medicinal herb market.

Dr van Brummelen is also one of the co-founders and a director of this company. The other co-founder and director is Mr. Jan Mentz. Mr Mentz completed the degree B Eng in 1996 and his masters degree; M Eng cum laude - (Technology management) in 2000. He specialises in intellectual asset management, and currently heads up the contracting and intellectual property office at the University of Pretoria. He has excellent networks within the university technology transfer sector in South Africa. Recently Mr. Mentz was elected to the position of vice president of the Licensing Executives Society of South Africa (LES).
